Welcome 🌍

Welcome to Much Ado About Travelling

Travelling has become a slight addiction of mine and I have started this blog to encourage other teachers to travel during the holidays. Sometimes our holidays can be a double edged sword of lots of time but prices are sky high. Whether you’re a teacher or not, you can travel on a budget and still enjoy and explore new countries.

I have thoroughly enjoyed travelling most of Europe but that is on pause as I enter the next chapter of my life in Malaysia. It’s important to reflect on where you have been and the travel partners you have enjoyed travelling with. I also want to share my top tips.

Some of my top tips:

⭐️ Don’t decide where you want to go. Use sites like skyscanner to see where is cheap on the dates you want to go by using the ‘Explore Everywhere’ option.

⭐️ Research how long is recommended in each city because some cities you can enjoy in a day and some you need more time. It really depends what you want to go and see.

⭐️ Have the confidence to go alone. Find a trip and book it and ask friends if they want to join what you’ve booked/will book that evening. Everyone has different schedules but don’t let that stop you exploring. Some of my favourite trips are a couple of days with friends and a couple of days solo.

⭐️ Find friends who have a similar travel attitudes to you who you can message a screenshot to with ‘I found these flights’ and the flights are booked in minutes. My record between sending a message and booking the flights is about 10 minutes and our EDT in Gdansk was brilliant.

⭐️ Work out what trips your friends enjoy whether that’s exploring cities, lounging on beaches or embracing cold cities.

⭐️ Stay in hostels and meet new people. There are such a wide range of hostels out there. If you hate the idea of sharing with other people, you can book private rooms in hostels. You meet lots of new people, can book cheaper tours with locals through them and they are usually in the best locations.

Keep an eye out for my upcoming posts, too tips and itineraries for where I’ve been.
